Role Overview
This role will provide the upkeep and improvement of building exterior surfaces, landscaping, turf grass, athletic complexes, surface water controls, hard surfaces used for vehicular / foot traffic, and snow removal.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma / GED or a combination of training, experience and education.
Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
Ability to use technologies for emailing, texting, and data entry.
Experience in the operation of tractors, large mowers, and tractor / automotive type snow plow equipment.
Ability to work extended workdays, including evenings and weekends, as necessary (i.e.in times of snow plowing).
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, wearing the required personal protective equipment for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Possess a valid driver’s license, without court ordered restrictions.
Regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Holds a Maryland Class A CDL license.
Previous experience in ground maintenance work.
Previous experience in commercial cleaning.
Role Responsibilities
Perform duties associated with maintaining a safe and clean environment for all stakeholders.
Perform duties associated with exterior grounds maintenance, not limited to mowing, edging, trimming, mulching, planting, snow removal and debris cleanup.
Perform duties using hand tools and power equipment.
Ability to operate a plow truck and salt spreading equipment during snow events.
Transport materials and equipment to various school locations using pickup trucks and trailers.
Serve as a custodian as needed.
Work shifts may change to meet the needs of the school system.
Follow established emergency procedures at assigned locations.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Other duties as may be assigned.

Ability to sufficiently and efficiently move throughout the building and grounds for extended periods.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with others as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, and hear.
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Must be able to operate powered equipment.
Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, walk stairs, climb, and shovel.
Will be subjected to loud noises, dusts, fumes, and hot and cold outdoor temperatures.
